Carmenchita
Most of my friends know that I was raised by my Grandma, Ms. Carmenchita Bautista. I am half Filipino, so all my fellow Filipinos know that our elders can be super strict and ridiculous at times. My mom had me when she was young and from what I've heard, my Grandma was not thrilled to become a Lola (grandma) at her age. A handful of social workers and custody battles later, I ended up growing up with my Grandma in the city of West Covina, CA.
Don't want to get into much detail about my childhood, but I can absolutely say that she was (still is) the most important person in my life (She, unfortunately, passed away 2 years ago here in Las Vegas). I will forever cherish the moments with her, the good & the bad, for it has shaped me into the woman I am today. You truly do not know what you have until it's gone, and I am currently on a mission to be grateful and to find the light & blessings that surround me every day I wake up. The spiritual journey is hard, and I'm at a place where I just want to be alone most of the time and do my inner work (This is a subject for another post-I am getting a little off topic! lol).
Anyways...on Monday, March 1st, I had a tattoo done to honor my amazing Grams and it came out absolutely STUNNING. I have always wanted one for her, even when she was alive, but I never knew what I wanted! Luckily I found Mathilda over at Reverent Tattoo (East side of LV). Her work is beautiful, and I just knew that she was the one. Please check out her work! If I can figure out how to link it, I absolutely will... I'm still new to all of this.
Thank You, Grandma. Thank You for teaching me, raising me, & showing me tough love. There's not a day that goes by that I do not think of you. I love you & miss you so much.
